New Delhi: The government on Wednesday told the Lok Sabha that telecom service providers are likely to launch 5G mobile service during the year 2022-23. This information was given by the Minister of State for Communications, Debusingh Chouhan in a written reply to a question by Deepsinh Shankarsinh Rathod and Ramesh Bidhuri in the Lok Sabha.


The members had asked whether the government had any plans to introduce 5G technology in India. The Minister of State for Communications said that there is a possibility of launching 5G services gradually and achieving its full potential as the service environment is created and demand increases.

 

 Chouhan said that the Department of Telecom, under the notification dated June 15, 2022, auctioned spectrum in the bands 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, 3300 MHz, 26 GHz.
